Sister Dorothy entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto in 1958.
She was a gifted artist and while attending the Ontario College of Art she won a scholarship, ranking second place among 400 students.
In 1969 she was awarded the Govern General's Medal in Art. Sister Dorothy was especially talented in the medium of stained glass. She was also a creative writer in prose and poetry which she loved to recite.
Also known as Saagimasak, S. Dorothy Grills offers her art to speak and collaborate in the sharing circle of life. This art is given support and guidance through the ministry of Building Bridges Project, an initiative of the Assembly of Western Catholic Bishops Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs which promotes interculturation of faith and unity with First Nations.
